Tucked into the vineyards of Rutherford, Beaulieu Garden is one of Napa Valley’s most distinctive private wedding estates. From the sunken garden and sweeping lawns to the iconic sycamore arbor, the property offers an extraordinary progression of spaces for an outdoor celebration.

For me, Beaulieu Garden is the quintessential Napa Valley wedding experience. It feels less like arriving at a venue and more like being welcomed onto an extraordinary private estate. The entire venue is secluded, beautifully manicured, and entirely yours for the celebration.

The property unfolds almost like several venues in one. Guests can begin with cocktails near the house, champagne in hand as they wander through the gardens. The sunken ceremony space surrounds a beautiful fountain, with a natural stage for the wedding party and a setting that, once dressed with florals and chairs, feels almost European.

After the ceremony, guests cross a small footbridge and make their way beneath the spectacular sycamore arbor for dinner. There is nothing else quite like it in Napa Valley. Despite its grandeur, the canopy creates an intimacy that makes dinner feel like an elegant family gathering. Just beyond it, there is plenty of room for a live band, dancing, and beautifully designed lounge spaces, creating yet another distinct experience as the evening unfolds.

From a photography perspective, the possibilities are nearly endless: vineyards, expansive lawns, tree-lined drives, intimate gardens, charming bridges, and impeccably maintained grounds. There are beautiful locations for large family groups as well as quiet places to take the couple away for a few minutes without ever leaving the estate.

I've photographed Beaulieu Garden in both intense Napa Valley heat and chilly weather that required a tent, and the property adapts remarkably well. The service is consistently exceptional, the catering feels five-star, and the entire team operates with the professionalism you'd expect from a venue of this caliber.

After photographing weddings throughout Napa Valley for more than two decades, Beaulieu Garden remains, hands down, my favorite Napa Valley wedding venue.
